Hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin odor-removing black technology: Decomposes the source of odor, not just a simple cover-up!

Hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) works in pet odor removal mainly by physically encapsulating odor molecules. HP-β-CD is a cyclic oligosaccharide derived from starch, with a unique molecular structure: hydrophilic on the outside and a hydrophobic cavity inside. This hydrophobic cavity can encapsulate many odor-causing hydrophobic molecules, forming stable inclusion complexes. As a result, the odor molecules cannot volatilize into the air and be smelled, achieving true odor removal rather than merely masking it with fragrance.

Applications of HP-β-CD in Pet Grooming Products:

1. High-Efficiency Odor-Removing Spray
By encapsulating odor molecules such as ammonia and hydrogen sulfide with HP-β-CD to form stable inclusion complexes, the odor is directly removed physically rather than masked with a stronger fragrance. "Masking with fragrance" often results in poorer effects. The structure of the inclusion complex is stable, and the encapsulated odor molecules are not easily released, ensuring long-lasting results.
Safety: HP-β-CD is non-toxic and safe. There is no need to worry about pets licking it, and it does not irritate the respiratory tract of pets or humans. It is particularly suitable for cat owners (cats are sensitive to essential oils and chemical fragrances). It also does not leave a sticky feeling or strong fragrance residue on surfaces.

2. Pet No-Rinse Foam/Mousse
HP-β-CD can encapsulate the irritating parts of certain essential oils, reducing potential skin irritation while retaining the fragrance and efficacy. HP-β-CD itself is non-irritating to the skin and has good biocompatibility. Even if pets accidentally lick it, it is relatively safe, making it very suitable for no-rinse products.

3. Cat Litter Additive
HP-β-CD can be added in powder form to mineral or plant-based cat litter, or integrated into the cat litter pellets during production. After a cat defecates or urinates, HP-β-CD can immediately capture and encapsulate the odor molecules released, preventing the spread of odor from the source and keeping the air around the litter box fresh.

4. Pet Shampoos and Hair Care Products
The hydrophilic outer cavity of HP-β-CD helps disperse hydrophobic dirt particles on the hair, making them easier to be removed by surfactants. After washing, the hair is cleaner and fluffier. It also helps reduce soap scum and mineral deposits on the hair, making it less prone to tangling, smoother, and shinier. HP-β-CD can slow down the release of fragrance. This means that after rinsing, a small amount of fragrance is continuously and slowly released, allowing pets to maintain a light and pleasant natural fragrance for a long time after washing, rather than a pungent chemical smell.
